Lothars Temperament

Lothar is a very friendly dog, but suspicious to unknow people and thus a very protective fellow.
To us he is very friendly and he would never do anything wrong! He loves us and we can do everything with him. People among the family and friends he already met several times are welcome fiendly by Lothar, but he is always attentive.

Lothars love to be trained and can be trained very, very good! I learns very fast. He obays very well and even returnes on a call, when he sees a dog,... well,...mostly ;-)!

If I say "steh (=stand still)", Lothar becomes a satues and doesn't move, doesn't matter in what position he is in at the moment,... on a tree or with crossed legs...:-)
There are no problems with other males. He is friendly to every kind of dog, as long as he is off from the ledge.

At home he is very quiet, but he knows how to earn our attention, e.g. when he is thirsty he put his paw as long in the metal-bowl until we fill in water.
In general Lothar is very "tricky". One day we painted the living room and Lothar musn't enter the room. But he wanted, becasue he didn't want to sleep alone in the kitchen and tried to come in for times. The first time normal, the second time a bit quiet, the third time much quiet like "I'm invisible", and the forth time limping: "May I come in, I feel bad". Cute, isn't it?!

He has no hunting instinct
Beside Lothar can something very special! he can smile!! What,... you don't believe?? Yes!! It's true!! The dogs notice when this owner is happy and they imitate our smile! You still don't believe? There is an seperate site with pictures!

When Lothar was young he was quiet nervous. But in his later years it calmed down, but he's still outsied the house a bit nervous. It is not a boring breed! It needs a work and it has motive power.

But Lothar really is unproblematic, and we a lucky ownig such a woderful and nice dog!! He his funny (if you can say a dog has this human characteristic) and just nice! But the typical and unique character of this breed you can't describe! You must own one to understand how unique this breed is!
